The Leader of the Future Award
The Leader of the Future Award is about the future. It is about the quality of lives, our organizations, our society and the leadership required to lead us into a future yet to be defined. It is about values-based leaders of character who have the vision to see and the courage to shape the future. This award is for them.
The recipient is a remarkable leader selected from the public, private or social sector. This award is presented to a leader of exemplary performance and results, and recognizes a leader who has answered the Peter Drucker question, "What in my organization could I do that would truly make a difference?" The recipient is a leader who epitomizes our belief that leadership is a matter of how to be, not how to do.
The Leader of the Future Award is given to an ethical leader of integrity and character, who is a model for all of us in defining the future, in serving the common good, and in the end, sustaining the democracy.
The Leader of the Future Celebration
The 2008 Leader of the Future Award Gala:
Honoring A.G. Lafley
November 5, 2008 marked the third annual Leader of the Future Award celebration. This year, we honored Mr. A.G. Lafley, Chairman, President and CEO of Procter and Gamble. Throughout his career, Mr. Lafley has been recognized for his contributions and leadership, including being named the “2006 CEO of the Year” by Chief Executive magazine for commitment to his customers. Mr. Lafely has also earned praise in U.S. News and World Report for his distinct leadership approach derived from the simple act of listening. “To be in-touch is to be a listener...” he says, “and an observer...to be connected and collaborative...to practice and to believe passionately in diversity and inclusion.” Mr. Lafley typifies the principled, ethical, innovative leader we hope to select for this prestigious leadership award each year.
